Hello everyone I hope you all are having a good start to the new year! I have been off to a good start and wanted to give you a studio update! Last January I officially launched my career as a printmaker and was accepted into my first couple of shows. I spent all of January hard at work making art and getting products ready for my first show. It is pretty incredible that It has been a year all ready, I felt like I have grown, learned and accomplished a lot. To start this year off I wanted to repeat what I did last January and start making new work. But first I sat down and wrote out some big goals for 2019. I did this last year and it really helped me go forward. So after reflection on the success and the failures of my business I came up with my big goals for this year!

My three big goals are:

Landing a Illustration Freelance Gig
Greater online presence (sales, social media, web traffic)
Better show success

I’ll be working hard to achieve these goals throughout the year!

This month I started out by continuing a new series of pen illustrations of wildlife as a part of a new line of artwork. I took the illustrations and designed a scientific poster to put each of them in. Each print is printed on kraft paper.

I been exploring a new medium of marker! I started doing a bunch of little landscape drawings of some landmarks in the PNW and came to really like working with markers. I don’t exactly know what this will evolve into but it has been refreshing to explore something new.

On the printmaking front I did three drawings for prints, a black bear, cactus wren, and a forest landscape. I finished carving and printing the cactus wren and it has quickly become one of my new favorites! I am in the middle of carving the bear and the landscape will be next. I have been working larger with my block prints, the cactus wren is aprox 8x13 and the landscape will be my largest to date 12x16! I will be documenting my process on that print and will be my next blog, a little look into how a print is made from start to finish!

Couple other announcements I updated my website. I added more work into the “gallery” section. I added a “photography” section which has some photo highlights of various landscapes. I updated the “shop”, added new products and updated most the product photos! Lastly I will now have a mp3 audio file for each post.
