Adjusting to a New Life
Hello, it has been a while! I am up here in Portland adjusting to my new house, city, state, and life. As far as getting settled into my home that has taken a little longer than I thought. I still have boxes all over and I recently just got my computer unpacked and operational.
A little recap for you all; I left Texas on an epic road trip to Kerrville Texas where I had a show. That show went really well and I loved being back in the Texas hill country. From there I traveled to Colorado where I made a pit stop in Gunnison, where I got to catch up with my old professors and got to see some amazing fall colors. I left Gunnison for a two-day drive to Bend Oregon where I survived some really bad weather through Utah ( scary stuff for sure!). Once in Bend I had a day to sightsee and explore, I went to Newberry National Volcanic Monument and Caldera. I went from temperatures in the 90’s in Texas to 35 and snowy! I was not ready for the abrupt change ha! I had my show in Bend the next day where I tried not to freeze that Saturday as it was in the low 40’s and rainy, but I had a good day Sunday. I finally made it into Portland that night. My time in Portland has been good but a little crazy so far. The unpacking and unloading takes longer than expected and things you thought you packed together are never there lol. I haven’t had the opportunity to do any printmaking yet, but I have been making art. I have been working digitally with my iPad doing some wildlife illustrations and exploring different styles of illustrating. I am always trying to learn more and become a better artist. Also, I’m starting to research the Portland Art market and see where my art fits in. I knew that moving would mean taking a step back from selling to adjust and learn about the market here. I am working on producing some stickers and posters for the holiday season and also updating my website and shop some.
I have a little slideshow video of some of my photos from the move:
Some other news in a week I will be traveling to England! I will be spending about 10 days there. I’ll be spending my time in Southern England around the Bath and London areas. I am excited for that and it will also be my first time traveling abroad!
I will be back mid November before Thanksgiving, until then stay well and take care!
Bryan.
