Summer in the PNW!
Hello everyone. Wow! A lot has happened since I last wrote. First my summer in the PNW is complete! I completed my four shows, got to visit Olympic, MT Rainer, and Crater Lake National Park along with many other beautiful sights. My shows overall went alright, I had one really bad show, one bad show, one good show and one great show. At the end of the month I was a little disappointed and off what I hoped to have earned. I will have a detailed blog post about the National Parks side of my summer in the next couple of weeks, before that I have a ton of updates!
The First and biggest update is that I moved to Connecticut :O Part of the reason It has been a while since my last update is that I have been busy moving 3,000 miles to the other side of the coast and country. This move has been planned for a while now, but back earlier this year when I was planning out my shows I didn’t know if the move was going to happen, so I planned like I was staying in the PNW. I got the news that the move was happening a week before I left for my first show in Texas. From there began my five month journey until I reached Connecticut. Moving out of the PNW was a little bitter sweet but things didn’t work out as we had hoped. I am thankful for the time I got to spend there and that I could experience a summer there. I am, however really excited about this opportunity moving the the East Coast. I have moved just outside Hartford CT, I am about 1.5 hours from Boston (one of my favorite cities!) and about 2-3 hours from NYC. I really feel like I will have a ton of opportunities to advance my art, printmaking, and my career. I have lined up some fall shows around here starting next week in Bar Harbor Maine. I will add all my shows to the Events tab.
I have made some new prints since my last update. This year I haven't been making as many new pieces as last year, partly because I was traveling more. Also I am starting to work bigger and the bigger the block the longer it takes to carve. I have three new prints, A moose, sheep, and lobster! I hope you like!
A note about my online shops: You may or may not know but Etsy has undergone a lot of changes. Now they are prioritizing items with free shipping and items under $25 dollars. I made the move to put my things on Etsy to get more traffic, however with this in effect it will be near impossible to promote my original linocuts on there. So I will be moving all of my linocuts back to a squarespace shop within my website. I will sell stickers, digital prints, and I will soon be selling cards on Etsy. All of these items will be under $25 dollars and will be shipped free. It’s a bit frustrating and many artist feel Etsy is loosing its touch on selling handmade goods. I will have more on this once I get everything set up, for now everything is still on Etsy.
Lastly, as mentioned I will be writing a travel post on my journey through the national parks I visited this summer soon, until then here are some photos from my summer! I hope you enjoy. I hope you all had a great summer! Leave a comment below of one of your favorite things you did. I would love to hear from you! Be back soon,
Bryan.
