First of Spring Studio Update
Hello Everyone! Hope you are well and that wherever you are you can feel the seasons changing and the flowers blooming. Here in New England you can see little pockets of spring but things are just slowly waking up. I have been busy in the studio getting ready for my first half of the show season. This year with my handy press I acquired in the fall I am able to expand my printmaking besides just block prints. Now I am able to do dry point etchings and mono prints. It has been a lot fun to get to broaden my printmaking into these new mediums. I have also continued making more block prints, including my third owl in my series.
My first shows of the season starts in May I have updated my events page, ill be in Boston area and in Connecticut, so if you are in the area come out and see all my new work! I also updated my shop to add my new prints so be sure to check that out too!
Block Prints
I have three new block prints Ive done so far. A pair of swallows, mini sheep, and a Barn Owl. The Barn owl is my third owl in a series of owl prints with a decorative border inspired by the Arts and Crafts Movement. To date I have done the great horned owl and snowy owl. I hope to do one more owl to finish the series up. I did a pair of barn swallows flying over meadow. I was inspired by my nearby landscape of the Bolton flats and The the wachusett reservoir. Lastly I did a mini print of a sheep. Sheep are one of my best selling prints so I’m was about time I added another to the collection.
Dry points
I have finished two dry points so far, a titmouse and a white crowned sparrow. For these I was trying to keep more loose and sketch like.
Mono Prints
I have really enjoyed making mini prints, I find that they are pretty quick to make and can be very expressive with them. I have taking a liking of using the warm brown for the mono prints I made so far, but want to explore using color more too! With mono printing, you only get one print so each if these a of these a special and no replicas.
